Some of my Produce

Pic 1... shows some of my produce for the season, incl; Beetroot pickled, beetroot chutney, tom, apple and chilli chutney, frozen, runner beans, turnip, leeks and broad beans.
Pic 2... Some trays of Tomatoes that I grew in my greenhouse at home, storing in garage till they ripen or go bad, there's; Yellow Perfection, Roma (italian plum), and traditional favourite
Alacante, some of these were used in my chutneys.
Pic 3...I thought I'd try Cape Gooseberries for something a little different, the fruits inside these
little lanterens are golden coloured and have a very pleasant but unusual taste, the plants take up about as much space as tomatoes, but the yield is far smaller, but worth a try !
Pic4....here's my first attempt at pickling shallots, they are just about ready, will go down nicely at Christmas.

Got My New one..........

Got my new plot now, the one I had last season was only half plot as this was my first season, it was only 36' x 20' but I still managed great crops.... new one measures 130' x 16', it has raspberries, gooseberries redcurrants and black currants and I have some strawberries to put in...looks like lots of jam and pies next year, not to mention wine and puddings (and I'm meant to be on a diet:)
Have barrowed delivery of dung onto plot, don't know whether I'll dig it in just now or wait till spring and put it in trenches for spuds? ,decisions decisions.
Still lifting leeks from my old plot, making lots of soup, sauces and freezing the rest.
Will post photo of new plot very soon.........

Brief Intro

Hi Folks,
This is my first attempt at a blog of any sorts, I plan to keep you and myself informed as to what I'm up to mainly on the allotment front, and share some of my successes and failures with you.
Bye for now.......'Veggie Perin'
